Services We Offer

  • Monthly Meetings
We hold meetings on the 2nd Saturday of each month, except December, which are open to the public. They generally include a main presentation and are followed by six to eight classes on topics relating the use of technology in furthering your family history. A blog is maintained to email press releases to members and friends about one week before each meeting.

  • Monthly Newsletter
Our monthly publication, PAFology, is sent via email and/or snail mail to members of the group (see how to become a member) about the time of each meeting. It includes articles of general interest to those using computers to further their family history. Members may choose to receive the newsletter via snail mail or email or both. Selected articles of lasting interest are also published on the web for public access.

  • Updated Listing of Utah County Family History Centers
Volunteers from the group keep in touch with FHCs in Utah County, Utah to maintain an updated list including address, phone, hours, hardware and special collection information.

  • Providing Donated Equipment to Individuals Serving in the LDS Extraction Program
We have received and placed more than 100 personal computers (386s, 486s, and a few Pentiums) which we have configured for using the DOS version of PAF and UDE, the record extraction program, for use by individuals working in the extraction program and others. To donate your old IBM type of personal computer or let us know about a need for computers, contact Ralph Hansen at computers@uvpafug.org

We have also received some Ethernet Network Interface Cards for use in FHCs when they want to implement a network for their computers. Contact gruf@xmission.com

  • Assistance in Publishing Genealogical Data on the Web
We provide assistance to members of the group in publishing their family history data on the web with varying levels of assistance being offered.

  • PAF Helpdesk
Experienced members and teachers of the Utah Valley PAF Users Group are willing to answer your questions about Personal Ancestral File via email. Direct your questions about different versions of PAF for the PC and the Mac to the helpdesk at help@uvpafug.org.

  • Video Lending Library
Videotapes or DVDs of  many main presentations classes that seem to have the biggest interest
demand at our monthly meetings can be borrowed by members of the Utah Valley PAF Users Group. A list and instructions is available on the videos page.

  • The original UVPAFUG logo was developed by Denise Cold. In 2005 it was modified by Lynne Shumway to its present form.
